Can you improve the state of the world?
Do you have manual skills that could benefit people who cannot use modern machinery? Can you explain to someone how to design a roof so that it won’t fall down? Can you explain how irigation ditches can be planned? Can you explain how an old engine can be repaired with a big hammer, a pair of pliers and some baling wire?
Share your skills. In many countries in the third world you could be just the expert that is needed to help a village to grow and prosper. Inside your head are not only the answers to pub quiz trivia but also to the life and death struggles of people who lack your skills and knowledge.

Seriously though I think this is a great inexpensive way for all us to make a significant effort to help others. Effort is minimal – rewards good for the self-worth!
I am remind of a saying ~ ” Never look down on others unless you are helping them up”.
